(OTCBB: TKOI), a leading provider of occupancy-based energy efficiency solutions, has been selected as the guest room energy management product of choice for a small business pilot program that is part of ComEd’s ‘Smart Ideas for Your Business’ utility incentive program in Illinois. ComEd is working with Franklin Energy Services, an engineering consulting firm that specializes in the design and implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs for utilities and states. The two businesses are working jointly to implement energy savings technologies into the hard to reach segments of ComEd’s client base. Telkonet’s SmartEnergy products will be installed within select hotels to assist the properties in achieving their energy savings goals. After the energy retrofit takes place, each property will be monitored to assure that the installed energy management technologies have achieved the property’s energy savings goals. Using Telkonet’s patented Recovery Time technology, SmartEnergy maximizes efficiency and energy savings by monitoring the occupancy status and thermal properties of guest room to balance energy savings with guest comfort. The installation of the SmartEnergy platform yields dramatic energy savings, often exceeding 30% on HVAC-related consumption, one of the largest energy uses at hospitality sites.
