SAN DIEGO, CA–(Marketwire – August 26, 2010) –  Barona Resort & Casino announced today that Greg Liggett has been promoted to casino manager. A gaming industry veteran of more than 33 years, Liggett’s past work experience has included executive management positions at casinos across the nation. Most recently Barona’s director of special events and promotions, Liggett is now one of eight casino managers that have full responsibility for day-to-day operations at the casino and resort.

“Greg’s impressive track record in gaming makes him a special asset to the Barona team,” said Nick Dillon, executive vice president and assistant general manager. “We are thrilled that Greg is back. He has the depth and experience that is essential in this position and knows how to make fun happen at Barona. We believe his expertise will greatly benefit our staff members who rely on the casino managers for support so they can solely focus on our players’ enjoyment.”

Liggett was lured back to Barona after serving as the director of gaming operations at a local casino where he was responsible for the slots, table games, bingo and poker operations, in addition to managing more than 500 staff members. Previously, he served as assistant casino manager, director of slot operations, player development office manager and assistant director of marketing at Barona.

His past experience also includes working as assistant general manager at the Rainbow Casino in Mississippi, table games manager at Lakeside Casino & Resort in Iowa, assistant table games manager Sandia Casino in New Mexico; and operations manager of President Casino in Iowa.

He has been a past board member of the San Diego Better Business Bureau, and the Arthritis Foundation of San Diego. He also participated in the Loaned Executive training offered by United Way. From 1971-1975, Liggett served in the Navy and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy Submarine Force. He has three grown children and currently resides in Lakeside with Joanne his wife.
