BECKLEY, WV–(Marketwire – July 6, 2010) –  Officials from The Greenbrier, PGA TOUR and The First Tee Chapters of West Virginia and Roanoke Valley, Virginia, announced a special day of events for junior golfers and children and families interested in golf. The Greenbrier Classic’s Youth Day presented by Polo Golf will take place on Tuesday, July 27, at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.

“We are thrilled to offer these fun-filled events to kids and their families,” said Jim Justice, chairman and owner of The Greenbrier. “Truly, they are the future of golf, and we are delighted to include them in the excitement of The Greenbrier Classic.”

Polo Golf, the presenting sponsor of Youth Day, along with Greenbrier Classic sponsors Callaway Golf, Coca-Cola and Nature Valley have partnered to present this family oriented day. Highlights will include a fundraising brunch, featuring a PGA TOUR player and hosted by Jim Justice and a youth clinic with two PGA TOUR players and trick shot artist Dennis Walters. The premiere event will be the First Tee Scramble, which will feature four PGA TOUR professionals playing with four First Tee kids in a four-hole exhibition. Throughout the day, all in attendance will be able to enjoy watching the TOUR players practice and interact with the attendees on the course.

“Youth Day at The Greenbrier Classic will be a powerful magnet for attracting youth to The First Tee,” explained Mike Mays, executive director of The First Tee of West Virginia. “Once we have sparked the interest of the children, with the help of their families, we can help them strengthen their character through the Nine Core Values of The First Tee. We cannot thank Mr Justice and The Greenbrier Classic staff enough for creating this day to allow kids and families the opportunity to see the PGA TOUR and The First Tee up close.”

“All involved with the First Tee of Roanoke Valley are very honored to be included in such an exciting day celebrating the First Tee and the game of golf. It’s events like these that allow kids of all ages to learn valuable lessons through the game and have a great day with family and friends along the way,” said Jennifer Blackwood, executive director of The First Tee of Roanoke Valley.

Youth Day is open to all children free of charge. In addition, those parents and chaperones accompanying the children will be admitted free as well.
