Contestants on New Season of FOX’s Culinary Competition Series Vie to Lead JW Marriott Restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles

LIVE set the stage for the eighth installment of HELL’S KITCHEN, offering a head chef position at the hotel’s signature restaurant, LA Market, as the grand prize for this season’s winner. With its modern yet familiar concept, LA Market by Chef Kerry Simon features a sampling of the inspired global cuisine that sets the downtown LA restaurant apart as a culinary destination.
Sixteen culinary contenders will brave the heat and the sharp tongue of superstar chef Gordon Ramsay as they compete to win this life-changing prize. The new aspiring restaurateurs step up to the plate on the season premiere of HELL’S KITCHEN airing Wednesday, Sept. 22 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Each week, Chef Gordon Ramsay puts the contestants through a series of grueling challenges, including baking pizzas and flatbreads in the all-new pizza ovens, catering a high school prom, introducing sushi to the HELL’S KITCHEN menu, serving breakfast to hard-working EMTs and celebrating the series’ milestone 100th episode with a black-tie dinner service. Eventually two finalists will compete head-to-head to impress Ramsay, and one lucky chef will walk away with a head chef position at LA Market at the JW Marriott Hotel Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE and the opportunity to be the official spokesperson for Rosemount Estate Wines. The downtown LA hotel is home to several restaurants, including ION, The Mixing Room, gLAnce and LA Market.
At LA Market, Chef Simon, known for his ‘rock and roll’ cuisine, creates a concept of reimagined American classics that complement the music and entertainment scene surrounding the STAPLES Center hotel in downtown Los Angeles. This season’s winner will helm Chef Simon’s kitchen and the dining room of LA Market, primed with a broad array of competitive experiences to develop comforting signatures like Meatloaf served with mashed potatoes, Lamb Tagine with couscous and cucumber yogurt and Bricked Organic Chicken served with organic farro, braised beet greens and a citrus jus. Childhood favorites are reinvented with desserts like Twice-Baked Banana Bread with spiked caramel, malted brown sugar crunch and bourbon ice cream and Grasshopper Pie with chocolate cookie crust, mint chocolate chip ice cream and a sticky chocolate ganache.
