Third Evolution of the Famed Showhome Adds a Hi-Tech Twist in Luxury Penthouses

NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwire – August 30, 2010) –  Cassa Hotel and Residences sets the stage for this year’s Showtime Networks designer showcase debuting September 7 at the newest iconic building in the heart of midtown Manhattan. The Showtime House merges innovative design with cutting edge technology creating a rare, interactive experience for visitors to the three penthouses of the luxury residences within the 48-story building. Elegantly proportioned, the striking exterior rises as an obelisk among its traditional neighbors striking a timeless new design statement on the New York City skyline. The opening of the Showtime House enhances Cassa’s stimulation to the senses, bringing it within the tapering form. A group of top designers and architects have been tasked to design a room inspired by each of the SHOWTIME series: Dexter, Nurse Jackie, Weeds, United States of Tara, The Big C, The Borgias and Californication. Their work will be filmed as part of a special half-hour show produced by Showtime, to air later this fall.

“The Showtime House provides us with an opportunity to introduce our hotel and residences to a new audience in a very different way,” says Solly Assa, CEO of Assa Properties. “Invited guests and the media will have the opportunity to view the design creations at special events. The public will be invited in on Saturdays and proceeds from ticket sales will support the nonprofit organization The Harlem Children’s Zone.”

Cassa Hotel and Residences will provide a glimpse of Restaurant 1945 which makes a full unveiling this fall. Developed by nightlife entrepreneur, Jesse Keyes, Chef Sean Olnowich, will bring interpretations of each Showtime series to the palate creating a selection of hors d’oeuvres that lend an entirely new dimension and interactive experience on opening night. To create enticing tidbits, the chef borrows from the flavors of Miami for Dexter and he looks to the Renaissance history of the Borgia family for inspiration.

This year’s Showtime House line-up of design talent includes Jeff Andrews of Jeff Andrews-Design, Space 4 Architecture, Robert Bristow and Pilar Proffitt of POESIS, Keith Baltimore of the Baltimore Design Group, Marc Thorpe of Third Eye Studios and David Schwarz of HUSH Studios, John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon of John Loecke, Inc., Gregory Okshteyn of Studios GO, Katie Lydon Interiors, Brooks Atwood of POD Design + Media with Perlin Studios, Stephen Chung/architect and Matthias Altwicker/AB Architekten, Laura Bohn Design Associates, Eric Chan, Bradley Price and Jeff Miller of ECCO Design, BG Studio International Inc. and Bruce Mau Design.

The Showtime House, located at Cassa Hotel and Residences, 70 West 45th street, will be open to the public on Saturdays from Sept. 11 through Oct. 24, and tickets will sell for $15 each. All proceeds from the ticket sales benefiting the non-profit Harlem Children’s Zone. The Showtime House will also be home to many private events including the Showtime-hosted launch event. For more information on private events, please contact Blaise Preau at [email protected].
