British Columbia Lottery Corporation: Thanksgiving Turned "Thanksgetting" for Lotto Winning Couple

RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA–(Marketwire – Oct. 12, 2010) – A Vancouver couple has finally claimed a lottery jackpot they won more than three months ago.

Richard Peters, 50, and Christina Babchuk, 49, were presented with a cheque for $3.4 Million at BCLC’s Richmond office today for matching all six numbers on the July 3rd Lotto 6/49 draw.

Peters, who works as a shipper for a local manufacturing company, says neither he nor Babchuk bothered to check their ticket until this past weekend.

“On Thanksgiving weekend I checked thirty or forty tickets on the bclc.com website,” said Peters. “I was about two thirds of the way through them when I discovered we had won. We couldn’t believe it. We’re still in shock!”

The couple, who purchased their lucky ticket at Central Gourmet Produce & Deli on 1st Avenue in Vancouver, plans to vacation in Europe and buy a new home.

Lotto 6/49 is the nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 6 p.m. (PST). Players can purchase tickets at any lottery retailer or at PlayNow.com.
