PHILADELPHIA, PA–(Marketwire – November 22, 2010) – Do you want to enjoy the sites and sounds of the Caribbean or Hawaii without the expense? Head to the Blue Cross RiverRink for a Cabin Fever Reliever featuring a Tropical Paradise on Ice on Sunday, January 23, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.; the Blue Cross RiverRink will seem like a tropical island. Ice-skating outdoors is the perfect way to enjoy winter and be healthy yet, there is more to do than just skate with during this FREE event at the Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn’s Landing, conveniently located on Columbus Boulevard at Market Street.

After a few spins on the ice, you can enter the pavilion at the Blue Cross RiverRink, and hear the rhythmic sounds of steel drum music. The thought of winter will quickly vanish from your mind. While inside the pavilion, you can enjoy themed movies on the giant video wall like “Finding Nemo” and for the nostalgia movie buff, Elvis’ “Blue Hawaii.”

In the spirit of a Cabin Fever Reliever, and an effort to get everyone out to enjoy their city and the outdoors, there will be special ticket giveaways to local attractions and restaurants throughout the event. Visitors can also take a walk outdoors along the waterfront and enjoy the scenery while learning about the importance of taking care of the majestic Delaware River courtesy of the Wissahickon and Pennypack Environmental Centers.

Guests will also receive complimentary leis (while supplies last) and have the chance to take a complimentary hula lesson and see a performance by Aloha Style on the Main Line.

Aloha Style on the Main Line provides Polynesian dance lessons for the beginner, intermediate and advanced level in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Aloha Style’s experienced dance troupe has performed at everything from small family parties to corporate events. Skating admission during this promotion is extremely affordable at only $8 and skate rental is available for $3. Weekend hours at the Blue Cross RiverRink are as follows: Saturday; 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. and Sunday hours are; 12:30 – 2:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Admission is $9 for the 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. sessions on Fridays and Saturdays. Convenient parking is also available on site for only $10.
