PARSIPPANY, N.J.–(Marketwire – October 26, 2010) –  Budget Rent A Car today announced that it has signed on as a national sponsor and the official rental car company of the Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors.

Through this sponsorship, Budget will provide WWP and their alumni with transportation assistance as well as fundraising support.

“We are honored to join forces with an organization that gives back to the men and women who have proudly served our country,” said Thomas M. Gartland, executive vice president of sales, marketing and customer care for Avis Budget Group, parent company of Budget. “It’s a great way to thank these heroes for their service.”

In addition, Budget is offering WWP supporters a way to save up to 20 percent on car rentals, while assisting WWP with their many innovative programs and services.

More than 39,000 of our nation’s armed forces have been physically wounded during the current military conflicts. Hundreds of thousands more are estimated to be recovering from invisible wounds of war, including post traumatic stress disorder, major depression, and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Whether through caregiver retreats, combat stress programs, career and education services or adaptive sporting opportunities, WWP empowers warriors with the tools essential to not just survive their injuries but to thrive and achieve personal and professional success.

“To help support our nation’s veterans, the next time you need a rental car, rent from Budget using the WWP discount and you’ll not only get a great rate on a clean, well-maintained late model car, but you’ll help the Wounded Warrior Project continue their outstanding efforts at the same time,” said Mr. Gartland.

To take advantage of these savings and help WWP, customers should reference Budget Customer Discount (BCD) number R262200 at the time of reservation. WWP will receive five percent of the time and mileage charges on completed Budget rentals reserved with this code. In addition, Budget will match up to $25,000.

Wounded Warrior Project Executive Director Steve Nardizzi added: “It is an honor to partner with Budget, and we thank the company for doing its part to support wounded warriors. This assistance and public awareness will go a long way in helping this generation of veterans heal in mind, body and spirit.”
