“Tyler’s Kitchen” to Offer Original Recipes and Entertaining Advice Beginning in February 2011 Issue
NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwire – November 19, 2010) – Tyler Florence, the renowned chef, star of food-entertainment television, best-selling author, innovative restaurateur, and retailer, is adding another ingredient to his list of accomplishments: Contributing Editor to House Beautiful magazine, effective with the February 2011 issue, with a new monthly column, “Tyler’s Kitchen.” With Florence leading the magazine’s food and entertaining content, “Tyler’s Kitchen” will take up the culinary mantle carried so admirably by Ina Garten’s “Ask the Barefoot Contessa” for the past five years.
In announcing this newest member of the House Beautiful team, Editor-in-Chief Newell Turner explained, “Tyler is a perfect fit for our audience. Of course we’ll devour the vibrant new recipes he’ll be creating, but equally important is the personal style that infuses all his undertakings: robust and warm with a family focus. His sensibility is about more than just what’s in the pot or on the plate — it’s the kitchen itself, the home built around it and the central role sharing good food plays in everyone’s lives today.”
Turner continued: “I’d like to personally thank Ina for her boundless dedication and enthusiasm — from her terrific recipes to her creation of our Kitchen of the Year in Rockefeller Center last year. While our relationship is coming to a close after more than 60 memorable meals, I know that our readers share Tyler’s love for good food and will appreciate a new gourmet voice in the kitchen.”
Speaking from his home base in Mill Valley, CA, Florence said, “House Beautiful is really America’s authority on living a fantastic life. My monthly column is going to be about everything you’re looking for — cooking with the calendar, cooking with the seasons. Every month we’ll have fantastic recipes using ingredients easily found at the farmers’ market and the supermarket. We’ll be cooking with new ideas and inspirations to put dinner on the table at a very high level.”
House Beautiful‘s final “Ask the Barefoot Contessa” column appears in the December/January issue and recipes will continue to live online at www.housebeautiful.com, allowing fans to return to the myriad meals Ina Garten has created for the magazine.
“It’s been so wonderful working with House Beautiful all these years and answering readers’ questions,” said Garten. “The highlight for me was seeing my kitchen recreated in the middle of Rockefeller Center — WOW! I am so glad to leave you in the hands of Tyler Florence. He’s an extraordinary chef and cookbook writer. You’ll love him!”
For the past 15 years, Florence has delighted the masses by sharing the sights, sounds and flavors of his unique culinary vision with fans around the world. After graduating from the prestigious culinary program at Johnson & Wales University, Florence tackled the Big Apple where he helmed multiple acclaimed restaurants and established himself as one of New York City’s finest young stars. Now based in the San Francisco area, his current projects include the wildly successful Wayfare Tavern in San Francisco, two Tyler Florence kitchen ware and gourmet food stores (San Francisco Airport and Mill Valley, CA, in the former home of the original Banana Republic store). Florence will be opening new restaurants and retail outlets in the coming year in Napa Valley, Mill Valley, and other yet-to-be announced cities.
As one of the original Food Network stars, Florence has shattered ratings records with such series as Tyler’s Ultimate, Food 911, and How to Boil Water. Equally successful have been his specials Planet Food, All American Festivals and My Country, My Kitchen. His regular appearances on The Today Show, CNN, The View, The Tonight Show, Oprah, Access Hollywood, Extra, Good Morning America, and others have established him as one of America’s foremost and most recognizable food authorities.
His latest book, Tyler Florence Family Meal: Bringing People Together Never Tasted Better, follows on the heels of his best-selling Stirring the Pot and Dinner at My Place, Tyler’s Ultimate, Eat This Book and Real Kitchen.
