Sonoma Resort’s Ingredient-Driven Programs and Promotions Highlight Grapes, Olives, and More

SONOMA, CA–(Marketwire – October 15, 2010) –  The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa is launching a new sustainable program whereby resort guests have a chance to experience the Sonoma Valley’s regional bounty throughout their stay. Known as one of the premier food and wine country destinations in the United States, Sonoma is also home to a multitude of farms that produces unique ingredients such as olive, lavender and lemon verbena.

As part of the Sonoma resort’s resort-wide program, Carneros Bistro & Wine Bar, the on-property restaurant featuring Chef Janine Falvo’s seasonal menu, and Raindance Spa, the award-winning Napa spa resort with its lush outdoor spa garden, will be promoting seasonal ingredient-driven promotions and specials.

For fall (October through early December 2010), the valley will be in full production with grape harvest, and the Sonoma luxury resort will follow suit with a variety of guest programs highlighting Sonoma’s grapes.

Vino lovers don’t have to venture far to taste more than 20 regional wines. Located on the grounds of The Lodge at Sonoma, The Cellar Door wine tasting room offers daily complimentary tastings of different varietals produced by small family-owned artisan wineries located in Sonoma Valley.

Carneros Bistro & Wine Bar
Aside from Sommelier Christopher Sawyer’s wine list of 400 Sonoma County favorites, guests will enjoy creative tastes incorporating wine grapes such as Sonoma Duck Confit with Bloomsdale Spinach, Sweet Potato Wedges, Pinot Grape-Cherry Vinaigrette, House-Made Meyer Lemon Linguine with Manila Clams, Hobbs Bacon, Sauvignon Blanc Broth, and for dessert, Grape Jelly Doughnuts, at one of the most popular Sonoma wine bars.

Raindance Spa
From drinking to dining to nourishing your body with the healthy benefits of grapes, Raindance Spa offers body treatments that infuse grape seeds to help rejuvenate and revitalize the skin. The Sonoma spa resort’s Grape Seed Rosehip Mud Wrap (50 minutes; $125) uses a grape seed rosehip mud created in Sonoma Valley. The warm wrap allows the pores to open and absorb the grape seed’s powerful antioxidants and Vitamins E and C. The heat relaxes tired muscles and joints while invigorating circulation and repairing skin damage. After the wrap, enjoy a soothing warm shower and also extend the treatment with a Raindance Signature Massage (50 minutes; additional $115 with wrap).

For a sneak peek into the 2011 calendar, The Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa will highlight olives in the winter, lemon verbena in the spring and lavender in the summer. For more information or to make a reservation at the luxury hotel, visit http://www.marriott.com/sfols or call (707) 935-6600.
