LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwire – October 20, 2010) –  Timothy J. Leiweke, President and Chief Executive Officer of AEG, will return to TOWN HALL Los Angeles to share his vision of sports, entertainment, development and tourism, and their role in revitalizing downtown’s economy, Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

Leiweke has been one of the leading proponents of the redevelopment of downtown LA including the creation of LA LIVE. When asked how will the $2.5 billion sports, residential and entertainment district impact additional development including an expanded LA convention center, future hotels, museums, and a possible NFL franchise, Leiweke said, “The growth of the passion for sports, entertainment and hospitality has undoubtedly resulted in the growth of this region’s economy and yet, the opportunity to reach its full maturity is still in front of us.”

Leiweke was the 2009 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and named by the LA Times as one of the 100 most influential people in Southern California, one of Business Week’s 100 most influential People in Sports, and Sports Business Journal’s Sports Executive of the Year. As president of STAPLES Center, he was responsible for the overall development of the arena, home to the city’s four sports franchises. Leiweke initiated the formation of the Kings Care Foundation, which has pledged, with the STAPLES Center Foundation, over $85 million to community organizations.

Leiweke’s involvement in sports and the revitalization of downtown LA has spanned more than a decade. This marks his third appearance with TOWN HALL.
