Oakwood Gives Special Honor to Associates for Independent Volunteer Work

LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwire – November 22, 2010) – At this time of year, Oakwood is especially pleased to give thanks to the honorees of its Oakwood Gives Back program, created to help celebrate its 50th Anniversary by honoring the spirit of volunteerism that is so important at Oakwood.

“Oakwood is proud to reward, recognize and foster a spirit of selfless action and giving,” notes Oakwood Chairman, Howard F. Ruby. “Originally, Oakwood had intended to select one honoree and donate $1,000 to their selected charity. However, we were so moved and inspired by everyone’s stories that we have chosen five nominees whose selected charities will receive a donation from Oakwood.”

Oakwood Gives Back is a unique Associate-nominated program where an outstanding Oakwood Associate is recognized for serving, caring and giving back to the community and the environment in which he or she lives. All nominations were reviewed by Oakwood’s Leadership Engagement Advisory Panel (LEAP) that selected honorees who make significant contributions of their time and energy to charitable organizations in their community. The selected honorees have been awarded a special donation to the charity of the Associate’s choice. 

Top Oakwood Gives Back honorees include:

  • Megan Thomas, Dallas Regional Sales Rep, $1000 given in her name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
  • Chelsea Robinson, Oakwood Corporate Housing Los Angeles, Field Service Rep, $1000 given in her name to the Los Angeles Mission
  • Kathleen Reedy, Phoenix Telesales Account Coordinator, $500 given in her name to Duet, a non-profit that improves the quality of life for homebound elders and adults with disabilities
