Photography Project Underwritten by the Hotel Captures the Area Through the Students’ Eyes; Postcard Sales Will Help Fund Arts Education in Low-Income Public Schools

NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwire – December 3, 2010) – On Monday, Dec. 6, Trump SoHoNew York will unveil an exclusive collection of photographs by the students of Urban Arts Partnership, a local non-profit organization providing arts-integrated education programs to a network of 65 underserved public schools across the city. Entitled “A New Perspective,” the exhibit’s photographs take a fresh look the SoHo neighborhood from the point of the view of the students. The private reception will take place from 6-8 p.m. in Trump SoHo’s stunning Duplex Terrace Penthouse, one of 11 newly completed penthouses offering sweeping views of the city.

Trump SoHo General Manager David Chase tasked the students with capturing the texture and diversity of the SoHo neighborhood, as well as of the hotel itself. From the over-1,000 photographs submitted, five were chosen to be reproduced as postcard sets. All proceeds from the sale of “A New Perspective” postcard sets will benefit Urban Arts Partnership.

“When we embarked on this project with Urban Arts Partnership, we had absolutely no idea how spectacular the results would be,” enthused Chase. “We were so impressed to see the talent residing in these students.”

“This project was of tremendous value to our students because it presented them with a real-life work challenge — from Trump, no less,” said Philip Courtney, executive director of Urban Arts Partnership. “We are grateful to David and the hotel for their support of our programs and for showcasing our students’ best work.”

Packaged sets of five postcards are available for sale for $10 at the front desk of Trump SoHo, in the mini-bar of each guestroom, or may be ordered by contacting Martine Katz at (212) 842-5574 or [email protected].
