Dr. Jacobs, UCSF Osher Center Founding Medical Director, Leads New ‘Five Principles for Healthy Living’ Program With Wellness Packages at a Full-Service Indoor/Outdoor Hotel Spa — a Bay Area First

SAN FRANCISCO, CA–(Marketwire – July 29, 2010) –  Cavallo Point Lodge announces the introduction of integrative medicine at its Healing Arts Center & Spa. The program was designed and is directed by Bradly Jacobs, MD, MPH, founding medical director at the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of California San Francisco and former Senior Medical Director at Revolution Health.

Known as Dr. Brad, his diagnostic and therapeutic plans are tailored to individual needs and meld the best of modern medicine and alternative practices for optimal health. His care plans are centered on his ‘Five Principles for Healthy Living,’ which encompass finding purpose, connection, stress awareness, active living and healthy eating. At the Healing Arts Center & Spa, Dr. Brad integrates these principles in his comprehensive health assessments, primary care, second opinions and multi-day retreats. His plans work in conjunction with the spa’s multi-disciplinary team of healing arts professionals, including an herbalist, nutritionist, acupuncturist, massage and skin-care therapists, a hypnotherapist and a shaman. Dr. Brad can also develop on-site workshops and health & wellness programs for executives and groups at Cavallo Point Lodge.

“We are excited to have Dr. Brad join our team of wellness practitioners. Our aim from the outset at Cavallo Point was to offer our guests a unique and soulful experience with offerings and activities that don’t exist at other hotels and spas,” said Dominie Lenz, general manager of Cavallo Point Lodge. “Having a wellness practitioner of Dr. Brad’s caliber — whether he is leading a tai chi class, working with our cooking school on a healthy eating class, or leading an executive retreat — allows Cavallo Point to be in the forefront of wellness in the San Francisco Bay Area.”

The new integrative medicine program is available to locals and out-of-town guests through a day spa consultation package with Dr. Brad or a more extensive three- or five-night wellness retreat package. Customized offerings focus on stress management, weight reduction, sleep enhancement, emotional wellness or a specific medical condition. “I am thrilled to introduce integrative medicine to the Healing Arts Center & Spa at Cavallo Point. The program is offered at a one-of-a-kind destination hotel spa surrounded by nature along with a wide range of potent lifestyle and wellness services and amenities available including, yoga, hiking, and, of course, our team of outstanding healing arts professionals,” said Dr. Brad. “The program is designed to immerse clients and guests of Cavallo Point in a personalized doctor-led wellness experience.”

Dr. Brad Jacobs studied internal medicine at Stanford University’s School of Medicine and combines acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition, yoga and martial arts with his conventional training. During his faculty tenure at University of California, San Francisco, Dr. Brad was founding medical director and an endowed chair of the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine. A national leader in integrative medicine and health & wellness, he has held workshops for Oprah’s “O You!” event, the Gap and Harvard Business School. He is also senior author of “The American College of Physicians (ACP) Evidence-Based Guide to Complementary and Alternative Medicine.”

“Offering our guests this level of comprehensive, customized well-being care was part of our original vision for the hotel and spa,” said Jenny Helling, spa director. “Dr. Brad brings the depth of physician care blended with the wisdom of alternative practices.”
