INDIANAPOLIS, IN–(Marketwire – September 23, 2010) – People from around the world who seek an agile solution to business problems are coming to the 2010 Scrum Gathering in Amsterdam. From November 15-17, 2010, attendees will participate in workshops, TED-style talks, barcamp sessions, and small group clinics — all on the topic of using Scrum to transform the world of work. Registration is open; early bird discounts apply through October 15, 2010.

“Instead of having a traditional conference-style event, we’re mixing things up and drawing on the successes of past gatherings to bring an exciting format to the Amsterdam Scrum Gathering,” says Gerry Kirk, program director for Scrum Alliance.

Scrum is an agile approach to managing complex projects. Already the most popular agile development framework, Scrum is growing beyond software to include industries from venture capital to retail. While certain sessions will feature industry experts such as James Coplien, Roman Pichler, and Rachel Davies, others will be more interactive, allowing attendees to gain insight from fellow Scrum users. The conference is intended both for those who are just hearing about Scrum and for those who are already using Scrum as well.

“We want to bring the community together to share ideas, challenges, and solutions. When the right people are gathered at the right time, amazing things happen,” says Donna Farmer, managing director for Scrum Alliance.

To facilitate community engagement, the Amsterdam Scrum Gathering will feature an Idea Marketplace. This interactive program allows attendees to submit and vote for topics to present at the gathering. One component of this is Bare Talks, TED-style talks intended to inspire ideas and provoke conversation. Six presenters will be chosen from among the submissions and awarded free registration.

Submissions for the Idea Marketplace will be accepted until October 8, 2010. To enter or vote, visit http://sgnl.uservoice.com/forums/73997-bare-talks.

“We’ve hosted Scrum Gatherings in Europe before but never quite like this. I’m most excited about the Scrum clinics. They allow participants to bring their most pressing issue and get help and advice relevant to their specific situations,” says Bob Sarni, Certified Scrum Coach, Certified Scrum Trainer, and presenter.
