Iceland Airwaves Concert Event Is Set to Attract Many U.S. Music Fans

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND–(Marketwire – September 10, 2010) – Iceland Airwaves, an annual music festival held in downtown Reykjavik, is set to see numerous U.S. music fans this year, as top artists hailing from the states have been announced to play; including Hercules and Love Affair, Angel Deradoorian and Neon Indian.

The festival, held this year between 13 – 17 October, has announced that various U.S. acts are to play, including the aforementioned, alongside international acts Robyn, Rolo Tomassi, Mount Kimbie, The Antlers. Numerous Icelandic favourites such as Agent Fresco, Seabear, Reykjavik!, Minus and Sudden Weather Change are also scheduled to play. Over five days, visitors will be amazed by the party atmosphere of downtown Reykjavik and encouraged to join in.

Iceland also plays host to numerous music and arts festivals throughout the year, including Iceland Airwaves, Rettir, Duplex, Jonsvaka and Eistnaflug — which are all not to be missed. The island continues to grow as a hub of creative minds and as a prime export for some of the world’s biggest artists and musicians, from Bjork to Sigur Ros.

Furthermore, on Thursday, 1st July 2010, the ‘Iceland Inspired’ concert as part of the Inspired by Iceland campaign, held in downtown Reykjavik, received over seventy thousand visits from fifty-two countries, including the U.S., via a live web cam feed.

The open-air concert, featuring Damien Rice, was streamed live over the Internet, giving viewers the chance to watch the monumental event from anywhere in the world. In addition, over five thousand music fans braved the rain to experience the concert firsthand.
