LAC DU FLAMBEAU, WI–(Marketwire – September 14, 2010) –  The stars of HISTORY’S® television series American Pickers will take a break from their endless travels in search of rusty treasures to stop by Lake of the Torches Resort Casino in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin on Saturday, October 30, 2010. Fans of all ages can meet Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz during a special free autograph session in the Hall of Nations Convention Center from 3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.

American Pickers is in its second season on HISTORY®, averaging 3.8 million viewers. Part sleuths, part antiques experts, and part cultural historians — Mike and Frank’s adventures bring them to small towns across the country in search of weird and wonderful Americana. Each treasure hunt leads them to fascinating, quirky characters — everyday people with stories that open a window onto American life.

As professional “pickers,” these childhood buddies comb through memorabilia and artifacts, hoping to find treasures among the trash. Sometimes they make a few bucks; and sometimes they walk away with little more than the history of an item.

Mike and Frank also will be helping staff at the casino with the “Trash or Treasure” promotion to be held for qualifying casino customers that day. As part of the promotion, qualified Club Advantage members can deposit their mailed postcards into the drum located at the casino main entrance from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. If selected, lucky club members will choose from different categories of items and choose between two items in that category that will be presented by Mike and Fritz. These club members could win up to $1,000 if they choose the category and items with the highest value.

“I have been a fan of the American Pickers ever since they first appeared on HISTORY®,” said Michael J. Broderick, Lake of the Torches’ Director of Marketing. “With their folksy charm and keen eyes, Mike and Frank have made digging through piles of rusty junk for ‘farm fresh’ Americana an entertaining TV escape for my family as well as for many other families here in Wisconsin. Lake of the Torches is excited to be the first resort casino to host the Pickers for an event such as this, and we expect a huge turnout of Picker Fans!”

Please note that you must be 21 to be on the gaming floor, but children accompanied by an adult are welcomed to the open autograph session in the Hall of Nations.
