Buick LaCrosse Signs On as Presenting Sponsor for “Project Food Blog,” a First-of-Its-Kind Interactive Culinary Competition; More Than 2,000 Bloggers Kick Off Contest for Chance to Win $10,000

SAN FRANCISCO, CA–(Marketwire – September 20, 2010) –  Foodbuzz, the number one online food property and largest online food community, is calling on more than 2,000 bloggers around the world to put their skills to the test in hopes of becoming the hottest new food blogger. Sponsored by Buick LaCrosse, “Project Food Blog,” which kicks off the first round of voting today, is a first-of-its-kind interactive culinary competition to discover new food blog talent.

“We are thrilled to partner with Buick LaCrosse on this unique competition, which is designed to highlight the incredible talent of our thousands of food blog partners,” said Ben Dehan, CEO of Foodbuzz. “Foodbuzz Featured Publishers are engaged and passionate consumers and this partnership demonstrates that our community is as attractive to lifestyle brands as it is to brands in the food and consumer packaged goods space.”

“Buick has a lot to offer to people who are interested in food and the culinary lifestyle,” said Janet Keller, Buick’s digital and social media manager. “This is a great way for us to connect the Buick LaCrosse to an important group of new consumers.”

The Buick LaCrosse program represents one of the most highly integrated and unique marketing packages produced by Foodbuzz to date. For example, Foodbuzz created a number of ways for Buick LaCrosse to have a presence during this promotion:

  • a branded Project Food Blog environment on Foodbuzz.com
  • pre-roll and brand integration in original web content about the contest
  • social media support via Twitter and Facebook
  • an offline sponsorship presence at the Second Annual Foodbuzz Blogger Festival (#fbzfest) in San Francisco, November 5-7, 2010

“A Buick partnership with ‘Project Food Blog’ is another example of a brand seeking lifestyle opportunities in the food category,” said Natalie Jones, Vice President of Sales for Foodbuzz. “Foodbuzz delivers rich display and social engagement programs while also being uniquely positioned to deliver and report the strong ROI benefits of such a program.”

Over the next 12 weeks, Project Food Blog Contestants will compete in a series of challenges highlighting various culinary and blogging skills such as writing, cooking and food photography for the chance to advance and a shot at the ultimate prize: $10,000 and a feature on Foodbuzz.com for one year. Visitors to Foodbuzz.com can follow the Project Food Blog action and vote on the competition.

Contestants will be whittled down until only one blogger remains. The winner will be announced on December 13, 2010.
