WILLIAMSBURG, VA–(Marketwire – August 5, 2010) –   Colonial Williamsburg’s second Guest Artist program will star celebrated “Grey’s Anatomy” actor Jesse Williams. After the program’s successful debut in May with Mamie Gummer, Colonial Williamsburg has scheduled the next Guest Artist presentation for Saturday, September 25. Williams will perform at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area. The Guest Artist program was created to showcase the talents of young actors, along with Colonial Williamsburg’s own actor-interpreters in scenes depicting pivotal moments in 18^th century Colonial history. Williams will perform in “What Holds the Future.” 

Known most recently for his appearances as Dr. Jackson Avery in the ABC series “Grey’s Anatomy,” Jesse Williams will return to the show in the fall for his second season. Williams was last seen in the Antoine Fuqua directed feature film, “Brooklyn’s Finest” opposite Don Cheadle and Richard Gere, and he has also performed off-Broadway in award-winning playwright Edward Albee’s “The American Dream” and “The Sandbox.” In January, Williams can be seen in MGM’s upcoming film “Cabin in the Woods.”  A native of Chicago, IL, Williams graduated from Temple University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in African American Studies and Film and Media Arts.

Prior to his acting career, Mr. Williams taught American Studies, African Studies, and English at a Philadelphia public high school. Performing in the colonial capital as part of the Foundation’s educational outreach efforts is a natural way for Williams to blend his love of history and theater.
